A Pacific Coast Road Trip Adventure: From Los Angeles to San Francisco via Highway 1

In this blog, we'll delve into our journey from Los Angeles to San Francisco via Highway 1, exploring the must-visit destinations of Morro Bay, Carmel, Monterey, and Santa Cruz.




Day 1: Los Angels to Cambria
Our journey starts in Los Angeles, a city known for its celebrity culture, iconic landmarks, and delicious cuisine. After departing from Los Angeles, we'll head north along the Pacific Coast, and within a few hours, we'll reach Morro Bay. This charming coastal town is famous for its iconic Morro Rock, a volcanic dome rising out of the ocean that serves as a prominent landmark in the area. Morro Bay is the perfect place to spend a few hours exploring the local seafood, fishing, kayaking, and hiking the trails around the bay.
Next, we drove to the coastal village of Cambria, where we spent the night. In Cambria, we checked out the famous Moonstone Beach, known for its unique colorful stones and stunning views. The sunset over the Pacific was simply incredible, and we were grateful for the chance to spend the night in such a peaceful and beautiful place.


Day 2: Big Sur
We continued our drive up the coast the following day, making several stops. Our first stop was Ragged Point, where we saw seals basking in the sun on the rocks below. We then made our way to Big Sur, one of the world's most beautiful and dramatic stretches of coastline. We stopped at Bixby Bridge, one of the most photographed bridges in the world, and took in the breathtaking views of the Pacific.
Later, we visited Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park, where we hiked to McWay Falls, an 80-foot waterfall that cascades onto a secluded beach. The views from the trail were stunning, and we were in awe of the natural beauty surrounding us.
Continuing our routes, we reach Carmel. This quaint and picturesque town is famous for its stunning beaches, world-class dining, and charming atmosphere. The town is also home to numerous art galleries, boutiques, and historical buildings that are a joy to explore. After a few hours of walking the streets of Carmel, we'll understand why it's one of the most popular destinations along the Pacific Coast. We ended the day in Monterey, where we slept for the night.




Day 3: Monterey to San Francisco
The final leg of our journey takes us from Monterey to San Francisco, one of the most vibrant cities in California. Known for its iconic landmarks, delicious food, and diverse cultural scene, San Francisco is the perfect destination to end our road trip. Some of the must-visit attractions in the city include the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz Island, Fisherman's Wharf, and the Painted Ladies.
But before that, we visited Santa Cruz, California, a charming coastal town known for its relaxed surf culture and beautiful beaches. The town boasts a vibrant boardwalk and a range of outdoor activities, such as surfing, hiking, and biking. One of the highlights of our trip was visiting the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk, a classic amusement park featuring a vintage carousel, arcade games, and several roller coasters. During our visit, we also drove down the coast to Pigeon Point Light Station, a historic lighthouse with a museum and guided tours. Another highlight was visiting Half Moon Bay, just a few miles south of Santa Cruz, with its stunning beaches, excellent surfing, and picturesque coastlines. Overall, Santa Cruz, Pigeon Point, and Half Moon Bay offer a unique blend of fun and natural beauty, making it a must-visit destination for anyone seeking an adventure-filled getaway.
